How I Upgraded My Southern Idaho Homestead One Project at a Time
Here's the thing about owning property in southern Idaho: you never run out of projects.
And honestly? That's exactly how I like it.
In the summer of 2020, I put together a list of everything I wanted to do to beef up our homestead. It felt overwhelming at first. So I did what I always do — I broke it into pieces and started at the beginning.
The Project List
What we accomplished that summer:
- Rebuilt the front porch from the ground up
- Fortified and leveled the front grass
- Added decorative curbing to the front and back yards
- Added rock landscaping to the front
- Added a 30-amp plug for the camper we'd just purchased
- Acquired a 30-foot Shadow Cruiser trailer
And the list of what was still coming:
- Privacy shrubs along the back fence line
- Ground cover between curbing and fence
- Rebuilt back porch
- Rock on the driveway
- Curbing along the south property line
Every weekend, another piece got done. That's how you build something real.
Lincoln County Land Is Made for This
In Lincoln County and throughout Magic Valley, the properties have room to breathe. You can build a shop, add a camper hookup, plant a privacy hedge, and still have space for a garden and a chicken coop — all on a budget that makes sense.
This is why people from more expensive states are moving here in droves. The value is undeniable.
